I recently made these cookies and I loved them so much, they are now a recurring favourite. I thought I would share the recipe with you so you can try them out.
You will need:

  • 140g/5oz Caster Sugar
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract (optional)
  • 250g/9oz Plain Flour
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder (or until you think it is chocolatey enough)
  • 200g Dairy Milk Chocolate
Method:
  1. Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas Mark 5
  2. Line 2 large baking trays with baking paper
  1. Place the butter and sugar together and mix together until light and fluffy
  2. Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla extract
  1. Fold in the flour until completely combined
  2. Sift in the cocoa powder and mix together
  3. Break up your chocolate with a rolling pin, then add to the mixture and stir until combined
  4. Scoop the mixture into balls and place on the baking sheets, flatten slightly
  1. Bake in a preheated oven for 12-15 minutes
  2. Leave to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Body Image...

For today's blog post, I wanted to talk about something a little different, something that matters. Most of you probably won't read all of this as it is quite long but it would be great if you shared it for other people too see. I want to talk about body image.

We all know the pressure that’s being forced onto teenagers to look a certain way nowadays. We all go through body insecurities at some point in our life; we understand how they feel. But in modern society with technology and media taking over our lives, the ‘perfect’ body criteria has reached breaking point. Take Kendall Jenner for example, the model of the moment, walking runways for the likes of Chanel and Marc Jacobs. Yet recently she has been demoted as ‘too fat’ for runway. Whilst walking for the prestigious Tommy Hilfiger runway earlier this year, she got slated for not being thin enough to model the clothes correctly. But, this was by the people watching the show and not by the designer. What message does that give teenagers about judgement over body types?

Even as little girls growing up, we are encouraged to play with Barbie dolls. At 5 years old, we are already building up an idea of the body we want, based on the dolls we play with. Although only a representation, if Barbie was real, her hips would be too small and not strong enough to carry a baby. Also, her legs would be so long and inadequately proportioned that her feet would lie flat on the floor. Is this really the body we are telling young girls they should aim for?

It is not only Barbie who create dolls like this, but it’s companies you would not expect, such as Disney. These dolls are very popular at the moment, especially from the hit movie, Frozen. These dolls are aimed at a much younger audience of 5-8 years. But at this age, children are easily influenced by people they admire. Many girls dream of being princesses and will go to great lengths to make this happen, but does this mean they need to skip a meal to achieve this?

Dolls in the shops are generic. They all look exactly the same as each other. You don’t see dolls that are a bit chubby round the edges or have stretch marks on their legs, things that every normal person has! Not only are we teaching girls that this is the body they should aim for, but we are teaching them that everyone else should look like that too.

As young people, teenagers are always on the lookout for what is trendy and cool right now. This could be regarding what they wear, what they do or what they say. Why is it that body trends have now become popular too?

Thigh gaps have become the latest preferred goal. For those who don’t know what that is, it’s as obvious as it sounds. Your thigh fat does not touch when your legs are put together, resulting in a ‘gap’ in-between. This is supported in the modelling industry for photo-shoots and runways. Modelling experts are even starting to worry about Cara Delevingne’s career in the business due to the loss of her thigh gap. Although, she has now become a role model due to being more body confident and for not necessarily following body trends.

This trend has resulted in many girls starving themselves in the hope of achieving this look. What people don’t know is that a thigh gap is not based on how skinny you are, but based on how wide your hips are, making this unachievable for many.

95% of teenagers think they are fat, don't you think there is something wrong with that? It's because we live in a society full of pre-conceived ideas and judgements, constantly pressurising people to look and act a certain way.

It doesn't matter what shape or size you come in, just be you thats what counts.

We should be teaching teenagers the importance of having a healthy balanced diet and lifestyle to achieve the body they want; the healthy way is always the best way. But equally, shouldn’t we be telling them that it is okay to look how you look and that you should never change based on current trends.

Everyone is different but it is our individuality that makes us who we are.

Smile and be happy within yourself, it doesn't matter if you are not what society deems as being 'perfect' because 'perfect' doesn't exist.

Makeup Starter Kit

If you want to start with makeup, it can be quite tricky deciding what products to use and where to start. Here are a couple of  products to get you started.

1. Concealer

If you are just starting out with makeup, I wouldn't recommend going straight in with foundation until you feel ready. Concealer is good because it will give you a natural look whilst covering spots and blemishes. You can either get a concealer stick or liquid concealer, personally I prefer the liquid concealers as I feel they blend into your skin well and give better coverage. However, you will have to find what works best for you.
Some concealers I would recommend are; Collection Lasting Perfection (£4.19) and Rimmel Wake Me Up (£5.49).

2. Mascara

Mascara is a really easy product to use and works well with both natural and more edgy looks. Mascara can be quite expensive, but you can also get some cheaper products that work just as well.
Mascaras I would recommend: Collection No Clumps (£2.99) and Maybelline Volume Express Colossal Cat Eyes (£7.99).

3. Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow is a great makeup product to start with as you can create lots of different styles and you can decide on colours that suit you best. It is so versatile and their are some great eyeshadow palettes to choose from. You can choose from a number of types of palettes such as a nude palette or a brighter one, its up to you to decide which one you prefer.
Eyeshadow palettes I would recommend; Makeup Revolution Flawless (£8.00) and Bourjois Little Round Pot (£6.99)

4. Lipgloss

It is your personal preference to whether you prefer using lipstick or lipgloss, however lipgloss is much easier to apply for a beginner. If you go slightly over your lip line by accident, it won't be as prominent compared to a lipstick, unless of course you are going for the Miranda Sings look ;)
Lipglosses I would recommend; Tanya Burr Lipgloss (£6.99) and Barry M (£4.49).

February Favourites...

Here are a collection of my favourite products from the month of February.

Rimmel wake me up foundation

I have been needing a new foundation for ages and I was unsure which one to go for as I have not particularly liked my previous ones. For me personally, I have had trouble finding a good foundation for my skin as it can be quite dry. This foundation is very runny and it quite moisturising so it is especially good for dry skin. The coverage is really good but you do need to blend it in a lot so your face doesn't look 'clumpy'. It cost £9 so was quite expensive for a drugstore product but is worth the price as it will last you a long time and you will have great results.

Rimmel lasting finish colour rush intense colour balm

I'm obsessed with this lip product! This lip crayon is so easy to apply and lasts for ages on your lips, the colour is super pigmented and you don't need to be constantly re-applying to get the full effect. Rimmel have such a wide range of colours, it was really hard to choose which one to go for, I will definitely be going back to get another one. They were £5.49 from superdrug so not too expensive.

Ed Sheeran - Multiply

This Cd is my life. At first, I was unsure whether I liked it but after a couple of plays, I fell in love with it. I'm a bit late on the whole Ed Sheeran hype but now I'm definitely involved. My favourite songs are Tenerife Sea, Affire Love and Nina. All I can really say, if you haven't got this cd, what are you waiting for?

Watch - Next

I have been needing a new watch for ages and I didnt know where to look. I got a next voucher for my birthday and after browsing for a bit, I came across the watches. There were so many cute watches it was really hard to choose. I went for this one as it has a super pretty floral design on the face and the rose gold buckles. The watch was £24 which is quite expensive but I don't think you are going to get a decent watch for much cheaper than that.

If you want to find out the rest of my february favourites, then head over to my youtube channel which you can access via my google+

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

Guildford trip + Airhop UK review...

During half term, my friends and I decided to have a girly day out in Guildford. I have never been before but I was looking forward to going somewhere new and just hanging out with my friends. We took the train up there which was about an hour long, it went really quickly and was very scenic.

The main reason for going to Guildford was to go too Airhop. A trampolining place where you can play basketball and dodgeball on trampolines. There is the main court for just normal bouncing and a foam pit for jumping into. It was a lot of fun and a good way of getting some exercise too. The price is £11.50 for an hour, for the first time you go as you get some non-slip socks. After that, it is £10 as you keep the socks. It is not too expensive for what you are getting, you are guaranteed a space on the trampoline and guaranteed to have a good time. I would recommend booking it as it is very busy and spaces fill up fast. A good thing about Airhop is that it is walking distance from the train station and is very close to the town centre, this is good if you want to make your trip more of a day out.

After we had tired ourselves out from Airhop, we decided to go for a browse round the shops and have a frozen yoghurt from Snog. Again, it was my first time having a froyo so I didnt quite know what to expect. I had chocolate yoghurt with brownie pieces, oreo and chocolate sauce. I was going to have the original flavour but the machine was broken. They had such a wide range of toppings, it was hard to decide which one to go for. They had lots of healthy options too, but me being me, I went for the unhealthy option. Too be honest, the Snog was nice, but nothing special, it just tasted like ice cream.
Once we had finished browsing the shops, and I had finished hugging the mad hatter, we got our train back home. I really enjoyed my day out and I will definitely be returning to Airhop as it was so much fun.
I hope you enjoyed this slightly different blog post.

Simple Skincare Review...

I have heard so many good things about Simple Skincare so I thought I would try out some of their products. Simple are very good for your skin as they don’t use any nasty harsh chemicals, instead it is all natural, leaving your skin very refreshed.

You can pick these products up from most drugstores and some supermarkets too, I got mine from Superdrug. They are not too expensive, so won't break the bank!

The first product I tried was the simple make up remover wipes. The first thing I noticed was how wet the wipes were, yes that does sound odd as they are supposed to be wet. However, some make up wipes can be very dry which makes it very difficult to remove all of your makeup, but with these ones it’s easy. After you have removed the makeup, your skin feels moisturised and clean. It definitely does the job well!

The next product I tried was the Simple kind to skin vital Vitamin Foaming cleanser, this is good to use after you have removed your makeup with the wipes. The first time I used it, I wasn't too sure whether I would like it or not as it doesn't have much too it. It just creates white foam and has a very faint scent. However, I did notice how soft my skin felt after I had used it. To use the product, you simply wet your face with water, then massage in the foaming cleanser and wash off after. It cleans your face and makes sure you have no makeup left on. It is also really good with reducing pores and stopping your skin from getting too oily. After you have used it, your skin feels deeply cleaned and very soft.

The big change I noticed after using these products, was how nice my skin looked and felt. After just a few days, I noticed my skin not having as many breakouts compared to before and looking more radiant. I am definitely going to be trying out some more Simple Skincare products after loving these so much. If you have used any of their products or have tried similar products please leave them in the comments, I would love to try them too!

3 lip balms I have been loving...

3 lip balms I have been loving…

During the winter months, your lips are more likely to get dry and chapped. Using lip balms on a regular basis can help prevent this, here are a few of my favourites.

Eos

I really like these lips balms due to how soft they are and how soft they make your lips feel. They are really smooth, easy to apply and work well for a long time without the need for constant reapplication. The shape of them makes them really unique. They come in a variety of flavours, I have; mint, summer fruit and clementine. They all smell so nice! I got mine in America but you can buy them in certain Topshop stores or you can order them online from eBay or amazon.

Baby Lips

These are the first lip balms I fully fell in love with, I have got almost all of them. What I like most about baby lips is the huge variety they come in, they have different collections which do different things. I really like Baby Lips Dr Rescue as they are really good for chapped lips in the winter and some of them also leave some colour on your lips too. These lips balms are not too expensive so are worth buying.

Vaseline

I have never been too keen on Vaseline lips balms because you have to put the Vaseline on your finger to be able to apply it, leaving you with a slightly greasy finger. However, I had never fully tried them until this Christmas. I have the original Vaseline, the Rosy Lips and aloe vera. They all have different scents and the rosy lip one also leaves you lips slightly pink. They are super moisturising and can also be used on dry skin too.

Thanks for reading!
