Film Review: Absolutely Fabulous...

Hi everyone!

I recently went too the cinema with Leonie to see Absolutely Fabulous so I decided I would upload a bonus post reviewing it.

The film is a spin off from the original series starring Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley both of whom I love as comedians! It is a 15 rated film which caused Leonie and I to both get asked for Id before watching the film, this caused a slight giggle from both parties!

A brief synopsis of the film...

The film follows the lives of Eddy and Patsy, two best friends who try to do PR work for celebrities. They live a lavish lifestyle and enjoy getting drunk and going to parties. After accidentally killing Kate Moss, the pair run away to the south of France only to cause more mischief.

I was a bit wary of the film after reading its somewhat mixed reviews, but I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it! Some people have said that the film was a let down compared to the series but from not watching the original series, I didn't have any pre-conceived ideas. It made me laugh at lot at various points and I thought the overall storyline was very interesting. I was also shocked to see the huge amount of celebrities in the film and kept on gasping when I recognised someone.

To conclude, I think the film is definitely worth watching if you like some lighthearted comedy. If you take it as it is and not compare it to the series then I think you will really enjoy it. The film really made me think about the friendship I have with Leonie and how you're never too old to have some fun!

I would give the film 4 out of 5 stars, the acting was brilliant but the storyline could have been improved slightly as parts were a bit predictable.

July Favourites...

Hi everyone!

So it has come to the end of another month - this year seems to be going by so quickly! So today's blog post is going to be my July favourites, so these are just a collection of items that I have been loving during the month of July.

My first favourite this month is the Real Technique Beauty Blender (£5.99). I got my beauty blenders in Boots after looking at them for months, I finally caved in and got them and I am so glad I did! They blend my foundation so much better than a makeup brush and gives you a more flawless finish. Where you use the beauty blender to dab the product on your face, the product stays put and is not dragged around your face giving you higher coverage. I would 100% recommend this product, I know there are cheaper beauty blenders around but I don't think this one is too expensive and does the job really well!

Ariana Grande's perfume 'Ari' has been a huge favourite of mine this month, I am completely in love with the scent and it stays on your skin for quite a long time. It is quite a sweet scent and smells a little bit like marshmallows. I also think that the packaging is the cutest thing ever! I know that I am quite late to the game with this perfume especially as she is bringing out a new one soon, but I think this scent is perfect for summer and I love it!

My third July favourite is my Sleek Blush in the shade flushed, I think this is a very pretty pink blush that adds a nice glow to your face. I think this is great for summer when you don't want too wear too much makeup and still look quite natural.

Over the course of this month, I have fallen in love with scrunchies again. I recently bought two velvet scrunchies from Boots, one in black and one in a deep red and I am obsessed! I always find my hair so dull and boring so what better way to make it slightly better than too add a cute scrunchie! I know scrunchies aren't too everyone's taste, but once a 90's baby, always a 90's baby!

My fifth July favourite is something that I have had too keep super secret and it is my Lokai bracelet. I have wanted one of these for ages and so I got one for myself and one for Leonie for her birthday. I actually bought this back in June but have had too keep it hidden as Leonie's birthday wasn't until the end of July, I'm pretty certain I might have accidentally sent her snapchats with it on my wrist - oops! Anyway, I think the meaning behind the bracelet is really sweet. It reminds you too keep yourself balanced and positive during both low and high times.

My sixth July favourite is my Kylie Jenner Lip Kit in shade Posie K. I have wanted one of these for so long and was debating whether to purchase one or not. Kylie announced that she was doing her biggest restock yet which would allow you too browse the shop and not have to worry about them instantly selling out, she was also releasing them at a reasonable time so I decided to try and get my hands on one. I am so glad I did! I watched a lot of Youtube videos before deciding on the shade I wanted but I picked Posie K as it goes with everything and is a colour I will wear a lot. I am going to be doing a more intense review on the product soon, so stay tuned!

My final favourites from the month of July are music related. The first is The Bird and the Bee's latest album Recreational Love. This has a slightly different sound to music I would usually listen too, but I love it! My favourites from the album are "Los Angeles" and "Young and Dumb". My second is Selena Gomez. I have fallen in love with her music over the past month especially from her new album "Revival". I also really like her older songs such as "Who Says" and "Love You Like a Love Song"

What have been your favourites this month?

Stepping out of your comfort zone...

Hi everyone!

So today I wanted to talk about stepping out of your comfort zone and doing something that you wouldn't usually do. I know from my personal experience, certain things terrify me and I am scared to do them. As soon as I take a leap of faith and just try, it never seems as bad as I imagined.

However, this time I wanted to talk about the little things that seem like nothing but actually I find very difficult or nerve-wracking. In one of my previous blog posts I spoke about some small anxiety attacks/meltdowns that I had recently been experiencing. I have still been getting these but over the smallest things that I know won't be as bad as expected. For example, I was recently asked to do a bit of overtime at work but in a different store, nothing major and nothing to be scared about. Nonetheless, I got myself over stressed about the situation and started too think about every single thing that could go wrong. I then started to panic and freak out about going. I knew that I was worrying about nothing but my mind just started to freak out. I still went and did the overtime, the first couple of shifts I was really nervous and shy but I then really started to enjoy it. I guess the moral of the story is sometimes it is good to step out of your comfort zone and be brave, something positive will come out of it!

I really wanted to share this experience with you because I know that some of you experience the same things and feel like you are all alone. Trust me, you're not! Please don't ever let your confidence or being shy stop you from doing something that you really want to do or enjoy. The first step is the hardest but will also make the future become 10 times easier!

Although doing something new and being brave is good for your confidence and makes you feel proud of yourself, don't ever let anyone pressurise you into doing something that you don't want to do. For example, the thought of going clubbing makes me feel so anxious and scared, I know I cannot put myself in that situation until I feel more comfortable. However, it is very difficult when all your friends are begging you too come out with them. Stand your ground and don't be afraid to say 'no'. Your health and well-being is far more important'

I guess what I am trying to say is that it is all about finding the right balance between taking a leap of faith for the greater good and saying 'no' too something that is not healthy for you at this time.

Liz Earle Skincare Review...

Hi everyone!

Just before Christmas, I treated myself to a Liz Earle skincare set. This specific set is no longer available but you can still buy all the individual products. The set included; Cleanse and Polish (£14), Gentle Face Exfoliator (£15.75), Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion (£13.25) and two Muslin Cloths (£4.50). The set was originally £22 but when I ordered it, it was on offer at £14.75 which I thought was a really good deal! I also bought the Instant Boost Skin Tonic (£6) as it was not included in the set and I really wanted to try it out. As I have had these products for a little while now, they are starting to run out. So I thought I would review them and let you know whether I will be re-purchasing or not.
Cleanse and Polish

I am completely obsessed with this and it is by far the best skincare product I have ever bought. After a couple of days of using this product, my skin completely cleared up and felt super soft and clean. You can use this product to remove your makeup, but personally I remove my makeup with the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water first then I use the Cleanse and Polish. You think you have removed all your makeup until you use this product after - it is incredible! It is not harsh on your skin and requires minimal effort, perfect if you are in a rush or you are just really lazy. I 100% am going to be re-purchasing this product as it has truly worked wonders on my skin. There are other hot cloth cleaners out there that are a lot cheaper, but if you don't mind paying a little extra, you are getting an incredible product.

Gentle Face Exfoliator

This product is great if you have more time for a proper skincare routine. The exfoliator has tiny little beads that aren't too harsh on your skin and doesn't leave it feeling sore. If you have sensitive skin like me, this point is very important. The exfoliator cleanses your pores and removes any excess oil on your skin, leaving it very soft and smooth. I really like this product, but unlike the Cleanse and Polish, I don't think I will be repurchasing it. You can get other great facials scrubs for a much cheaper price that will do near enough the exact same thing. You might as well save yourself some pennies and go for a different brand.
Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion

First of all, I think this product is slightly misleading with its title. Personally when I hear the word 'lotion' I think of a creamy product, but this 'lotion' is a liquid, almost like a micellar cleansing water. I would class it as a skin tonic/toner and not a lotion. I haven't really noticed a difference in the skin around my eyes since using this product and I am not too sure what it is supposed to do. It also left my eyes feeling very dry and a little bit sore, for someone who already has dry skin, this was not a great feeling! I won't be repurchasing this product as it is not too great. It wasn't the reason behind the purchase of the gift set anyway so I don't feel let down or disappointed.

Instant Boost Skin Tonic

I love this product! It instantly refreshes my skin giving it a boost of life even on my most tired of days! I tend to use this after my Cleanse and Polish and moisturiser, to finish off my skincare routine. It leaves your skin feel so fresh and clean. The product does claim to be good for setting your makeup too. I personally have not tried this out, but I don't think it will work as it leaves your face quite wet after use. I feel that this would make your makeup slide off rather than stay put! However, I love and adore this skin tonic and 100% will repurchase. It is not a product that I use everyday but it is something that I really appreciate after use.

Collective Haul...

Hi everyone!

Just a quick little side note before you start reading this post, I have a Bloglovin' profile where I will be posting updates and will be following blogs. If you would like to follow me on there then please press the Bloglovin' widget to the right of this post. Thank you!

Last week, I went shopping too Southampton West Quay with my twin Leonie. We both bought a lot of items so decided to do a blog collab for our collective haul posts. So make sure you head over to her blog once you have read this to see what items she purchased.

The first shop we went into was Schuh, I wanted to go in here to try on some Converses that I have been dreaming about for a long time! I picked up some all black allstar high tops for £43. These were originally £48 but Leonie let me use her Unidays discount so I got them for £43 - thanks Leonie! I really like these converse as I feel they will go with almost every outfit I own and they are super comfy. They are also all black to match my soul!

We then went into Boots, we were hoping that the NYX stand would be open but unfortunately it wasn't which was a bit annoying. There was still a lot of makeup to browse from though! I got a Maybelline Master Drama eyeliner kohl pencil in black. This was £4.49 which I thought was quite a reasonable price! I love eyeliner so I'm really excited to try one that I haven't had before.

While I was in Boots, I also had to pick up some more conditioner for my hair, I got the Tresemme Luxurious Moisture for £3. It can't just be just me who runs out of conditioner before shampoo?!

After browsing in both Boots and Superdrug, we went into New Look. We actually went in here twice and I purchased items both times so I'm just going to combine them together. The first thing I got, which I have completely fallen in love with, is this cute romper/playsuit. I saw this playsuit a couple of weeks ago when I went shopping but I didn't get it, this time however, it was in the sale for £11 so I couldn't resist! It has a super pretty pattern on it and is perfect for summer! I am just hoping that the UK stops raining soon because I am far too excited to wear this!

The next thing I bought was a plain black tight crop top. I was on the lookout for a plain top too go with my Hawaiian red shorts, these shorts are quite patterned so I didn't want anything too fancy to go with them, so the black crop top fits perfectly!

I also picked up a plain white tee with pom pom fringing round the bottom, again to go with my Hawaiian shorts. Pom Pom fringing seems to be my new obsession! Both of these tops were on a save for 2 for £12.

Leonie and I took a quick pit stop at Ed's Diner for lunch which was very nice!

After we were full up with food, we browsed a few more shops but didn't pick up many items. We then went to Primark, I don't usually buy lots of clothes in Primark as my local Primark is always far too busy and messy for my liking. However, I found this one was a lot nicer! I picked up a teal coloured t-shirt with a pocket, on the pocket is a cartoon of a doughnut that says 'donut talk to me'. The childish humour in me found it funny so I had to buy it. It was also in the sale for £3, so I couldn't turn down a bargain!

I also got 4 pairs of frilly socks as they are so comfy and soft. Nothing beats brand new socks!

Make sure you read Leonie's blog post too!
